(7 and above & Adult Learners)
Have you ever wondered which instrument is yours?
The Rockstar Experience is a 100-minute, hands-on instrument discovery workshop where every participant
gets to try all three core instruments of a contemporary band namely Keyboard, Guitar, and Drums,
spending 30 focused minutes at each. No musical experience required.
Designed for both children and adults, the workshop guides participants through each instrument in
sequence: its sound, its musical role in the band, and the foundational techniques needed to actually play it.
By the end of the session, every participant leaves with first-hand experience of all three instruments.
The session is facilitated across age-appropriate groups, with instruction style adapted for younger
participants (ages 7 and above) as well as adult learners. Whether you are 8 or 58, the experience is the
same: you arrive as a curious observer and leave having genuinely played three core instruments in a band.
The Rockstar Experience is for anyone who has ever:
– Wondered which instrument they would enjoy playing
– Been curious about how a band works
– Wanted to explore music but didn’t know where to start
– Sought a meaningful, hands-on arts experience, even at a beginner level
A first step into music that feels nothing like a first lesson — because by the end, you have played three!
The following structure applies across all age groups. Arts appreciation and understanding elements are annotated with durations throughout.
| Duration | Segment |
|---|---|
| 5 mins | Part 1: Welcome & The Band Explained: What each instrument does and why it matters |
| 30 mins | Part 2: Keyboard - Role, sound and technique |
| 30 mins | Part 3: Guitar - Role, sound and technique |
| 30 mins | Part 4: Drums - Role, sound and technique |
| 5 mins | Part 5: Reflection - Discovering your instrument |
| Total: 100 mins | Workshop Complete |
Duration: 5 minutes
The instructor begins with a brief, engaging introduction to how a band works as a complete musical system. Participants are introduced to the three instruments they will explore, along with a simple idea that underpins the session: rhythm, harmony, and melody are not abstract concepts, but things you can hear, feel, and play, each brought to life by a different instrument.
Duration: 90 minutes total (30 mins per instrument)
Participants rotate through all 3 instrument stations in sequence, spending 30 minutes at each. Every station is taught by a different instructor and follows the same three-phase structure:
By the end of the three stations, participants will have played each instrument and felt its role in the band. They will discover that rhythm, harmony, and melody are not just abstract ideas but sounds they can make themselves.
Duration: 5 minutes
Having completed all three trial stations, participants take part in a structured facilitated reflection. This is not an assessment but an arts appreciation exercise in which participants articulate what they heard, felt, and discovered across the three instruments.
