Student Contract

(For Diploma courses only)

Under the Private Education Act, every registered private education institution must execute a Student Contract for any course that is more than two months in duration.

The Student Contract is a legally binding contract between SOMA and the student enrolled in the course. The Student Contract must specify the following items clearly:

  • Course Information and Fees, including course title, duration, commencement and end date, full-time or part-time, name of the award and institution conferring the award, and its expected date;
  • Fee refund policy;
  • Fee collection schedule, including any late fee payment policy;
  • Any miscellaneous fees including re-module, re-examination and make-up lesson;
  • Any other information as deemed necessary.

In addition, the student is required to sign the Advisory Note (Form 12) prior to signing the Student Contract to ensure that they have understood and agreed to all the terms of the contract.

The student is required to sign two original copies of the Student Contract; one copy will be given to the student and the other will be kept by SOMA.

If any amendment is made, both the student and SOMA must sign beside the amendment(s) on both copies of the Student Contract.
