Diploma in Music Production & Engineering

The Diploma in Music Production and Engineering prepares students for careers as music producers and audio engineers by providing comprehensive training in technical and creative aspects of music production. It equips students with the skills to record, edit, mix, and produce industry-standard content using relevant technologies and workflows.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of Diploma in Songwriting and Productions, students will be able to:

  • Have fundamental music theory and musicianship skills
  • Master Pro Tools and essential audio recording, production, and studio maintenance techniques
  • Demonstrate skills in sound recording or live sound environments
  • Independently compose, record, mix, and master industry-standard audio tracks

Course Duration

Full-time (12 months)
Part-time (18 months)

Intake commences in April and October annually.

Class Size

The instructor to student ratio is 1 instructor to 12 students.

Age Requirement

At least 16 years old

Academic Requirement

Minimum of 3 GCE O-level credits with grade C6 and above, or its international equivalent.

Candidates with a NITEC or Higher NITEC Certificate will have to complete and pass one of SOMA’s Certificate Courses in order to be eligible for admission to the Diploma courses.

Language Requirement

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 4.5,
or GCE ‘N’/’O’ Level English grade C6 and above.

Other English Language Proficiency Tests (TOEFL/Duolingo) can also be considered.

Students will need to achieve at least a 50% pass to be awarded the credits for each module and obtain a total of 120 credits in order to graduate.

Attendance Policy

  • Local Students are to maintain 80% attendance rate per module,
  • International Students must maintain 90% attendance rate per month
