Tan Xin Jie joined the String Ensemble as her CCA in primary school, where she picked up the violin at 8 years old and was later guided by violinist and now-conductor Luo Wei.
Being sure that she wants to take her passion for music to greater heights, Xin Jie auditioned and got a place in the School of the Arts Singapore (SOTA) where she improved on her violin playing under the careful tutelage of Ms Lillian Wang (2017-2021). She took the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) in School of the Arts and recently graduated in year 2020.
Given a spot in the NUS Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music for 2021, she looks forward to improve her craft and performance as a violin major there under the Tutelage of Ng Yu-Ying.
When the Kids’ Philharmonic Orchestra in Singapore was founded in 2012, Xin Jie joined and played with them, and is currently still there as a pioneer orchestra member. She has attended various overseas music program such as the summer music camp at Performing Arts Institute (PAI) – Wyoming Seminary in 2017 where she received lessons from Dr. Lisa M. Burrell; winter program at Blackmore International Music Academy with Professor Yuri Zhislin in 2017, and summer program at Universität Mozarteum in 2019 where she received masterclasses by Professor Michael Vaiman. She has also received masterclasses by Professor Laurence Dreyfus, Igor Yuzefovich and Charles Castleman.
